Athens is claimed to be the birthplace of civilisation, Athens has more history, archaeology, great monuments, awesome sunshine and heritage than you can shake a stick at. A busy city that is ripe for being explored. It's only four hours away by plane, so it's a great option for a winter conference as the temperature is more moderate.
Athens held the last Olympic Games in 2004, they were hugely successful and the city has benefitted from major investment and many new venues.
Austria has two fantastic city break options, Vienna and Salzburg. Both are cultural havens, and are bursting at the seams with wonderful venues and great activities. Vienna is synonymous with concert halls and classical music, fantastic art museums, dancing horses and not to mention the wonderful chocolate tortes and Viennese coffee.
Salzburg is well known for it's Baroque architecture, and it's often referred to as the City of Mozart, but it's also famous for more modern times as it was in the hills around the city that Julie Andrews sang the immortal words: “The hills are alive”.
