Thankfully being responsible and accountable is now on many corporate agendas. From Corporate Social Responsibility policies to green initiatives, it is more important than ever that companies consider the interests of wider society when going about their business. Fortunately awareness often makes things easier, so there are no excuses not to make your next event green. It may be a current trend, but long may it continue. Here are BC's top tips.

Recycle. Think of all the paper that is used in not only arranging a conference but also at the actual event. So why not arrange for green paper bins at events. Alternatively, you can arrange for delegate packs to be hosted online, your guests can then simply print out what they need.

More than once. Don't throw materials away, store products like stationery, folders, labels and badges for your next event. In addition, plan your exhibition stands to be re-usable, saving the environment and your budget.

Be charitable. Think of fun and engaging ways to raise money at your event to donate to a local or national charity that is close by, or simply close to your heart.

Off-Set. Keep a little back in the budget to off-set the carbon emissions from your event. Whether guests have travelled from afar, or you want to account for all that AV, this is a simple way to give back to the environment and BC can help calculate the event emissions. You could also encourage your guests to make their own contributions too.

Inspire. Actions do speak louder, but sometimes a few carefully chosen words don't go amiss either. Invite an inspirational speaker to your next event. Someone that can embrace leadership, management and green issues all rolled into one.

Source. Make sure your materials and brochures are printed on recycled paper, and that your delegate bags and giveaways are from sustainable and ethical sources. Think Fairtrade, when it comes to refreshments.

Venue. Some venues are going the extra mile to be green, and you can help by choosing to host your next event at a venue with a greener outlook, or at one that supports environmental issues. BC is happy to make some great suggestions.
